Efren’s painting style can best be described as impressionistic. He uses color and motion to capture the essence of his subject matter, which is distinctly Mexican in theme. Although he dabbles in realism from time to time, paints landscapes, portraits and still-life objects, the vast majority of his work is characterized by the flurry of his brush and the vibrancy of his palette. When asked about influences, he admits there are many, although the one painter who has most held his admiration is Angel Zarraga, a Mexican painter of the era of Diego Rivera who achieved renown in Europe, primarily in France, for his murals and large format paintings.

Ajijic artist Efren Gonzalez had a very successful opening on December 2nd and we have a pieces we couldn’t fit into the show. These are all original oil paintings ranging from 16″ x 20″ to 14″ x 18″- we can ship to the US and Canada.  Please contact us if you’d like more information!

I just returned from a trip to San Miguel and have some lovely new jewelry for the gallery!  This artist incorporates stones, ammonites and precious metals to create unique and distinctive pieces.

Just a couple of weeks from opening and we are very excited to see all our winter friends.
