BiographyElizabeth Skelsey was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. She lived there as an adult, settling in the Bondi Beach resort area. Her love for art began at the early age of nine. She won a national contest sponsored by the Australian National Airline for her art projects at the age of eleven. Liz attended the Sydney College of Fine Arts, earning several degrees including a post graduate degree in Fine Arts. She painted professionally for five years, exhibiting her works at local galleries such as Art Space, Performance Space, and was under contract with Hogarth Galleries. Liz abruptly abandoned painting for another passion: music, which she pursued for many years. After traveling to the United States and Canada, she immigrated to Mexico and now makes her home in Ajijic. The inspiring environment that is Ajijic reignited her love of painting, which she resumed shortly upon arrival. Locally, she has shown at Maria Di Paola, Efren Gonzales, the Gathering, the Harvest Festival, Ixtlahuacán Cultural Center, the Ajijic Cultural Center, and numerous ASA events (for which she has won four juried awards, 1st and 2nd place). |
