EFREN GONZALES

Efren Gonzales born in Ajijic. A prodigious painter in all media, particularly in oil, watercolor, pastel and acrylic. Efren participed in the famous Neill James art program in Ajijic. Studied with Antonio Cardenas, international painter B.R. Kline, watercolorist Luis Eduardo Gonzalez, sculptor Kent Clark and etchist Juan Navarro.

DAVID LEONARDO

David Leonardo was born in Mexico City in 1963 to an artistic family that had a powerful influence on his future as a professional painter. He studied in two universities in Mexico City under a variety of influential teachers. His work with muralist Arnold Belkin and later experiences in an exchange program in Nicaragua influenced his development as a muralist painter, as well as his career as a full time artist.

David Leonardo has exhibited his works on canvas in important cultural centers in Mexico and the United States. These include the Rufino Tamayo Museum in Mexico City and the Cultural Center of Napa Valley, California. His paintings can be found in major museums throughout Mexico, as well as in private collectors around the world, including the Robert Mondavi collection

EDWARD GILLIAM

Edward Gilliam’s artistic and educatorial background has been enhanced by extensive travel and study in Europe and Asia and residence in Mexico. Collected by several museums, he has exhibited internationally and created numerous murals throughout the western United States and Mexico. He now resides in San Patricio de Melaque, Jalisco.

ERNESTO DE LA PEÑA FOLCH

Ernesto de la Peña Folch has had many one man show exhibitions and group exibitions in Mexico and Canada for the last 15 years.    Since 2002 he has been teaching contemporary Painting and printmaking at Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramirez "El Nigromants", Bellas Artes, San Miguel de Allendo, Mexico... Since 2007 he has been the Director of the Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. For the last two winters he has exhibitions at Galeria La Manzanilla,  La Manzanilla, Mexico and an exhibition in Pozos de Minerales, Mexico.

GAIL SIBLEY- BFA, MA

Originally from Jamaica, Gail Sibley moved to Canada in 1994. She has a BFA from the University of Manitoba and graduated from Queens University in Ontario with her MA. Following her formal education, Gail chose to work in pastel, acrylic and oils. In 2002 she achieved Signature Membership in the Pastel Society of America. Gail has participated in national and international shows and her work is in private and corporate collections worldwide. She loves to travel and comes to La Manzanilla in the winter to paint and experience the Mexican way of life. She finds the Mexican culture and heat of the sun refresh her soul and bring colour and life to her work. Viewers and collectors marvel at the vibrant colours in Gail's work which breathe special life into preceptions of everyday scenes. Her work can currently be seen at Gallery 8 (Salt Spring Island), Peninsula Gallery (Sidney, BC), Kennedy Gallery (Grand Cayman), and Galeria La Manzanilla (La Manzanilla, Mexico).

JESUS LOPEZ VEGA

Jesus Lopez Vega  was born in Ajijic , Jalisco in 1962. His contact with the Mexican Indian communities, has  left an indelible mark in his art that can be seen through his interpretations representing the magic surrealism, mysticism and the traditional folklore of the mexicans towns. He has participated in a large number of groups shows in Mexico and the United States, and to this date he has had many individual showings. His work is found in important private collections in Mexico, United States, England and Belgium,  in places such as The Valentine Driessen Collection of Genk, Belgium.

ISABEL GOODE DE BLANC

Isabel Goode-DeBlanc is a plein air painter, but is also known for her nudes and realistic portraits, Isabel’s artistic gift is demonstrated by her wide range of subjects, and the various media she utilizes: pastel, oils and water color. Mostly self-taught, she prefers painting from life, using natural light.

Isabel has exhibited locally in Texas and she was one of the founding members  of Plein Air Austin. Her plein air paintings were exhibited at the Mill Atelier Gallery in Santa Fe.

She has recently moved to Ajijic, Jalisco, in Mexico, with her husband, and continues to be an avid painter, exhibiting her work in Ajijic Galleries and at Galeria La Manzanilla in La Manzanilla, Mexico.

MARY BRENEMAN

Mary is a former New Englander from Gloucester, Massachusette.  She was an illustrator for many years in New York and then she went, on to work as a decorative painter and muralist in Boston.

Mary moved to San Miguel de Allende 8 years ago to paint full time. Currently Mary owns her own Gallery on San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and has become a popular artist.

Her work is primarily about the landscape and people of Mexico. It is versatile, colorful and certainly captures the energy of his wonderful country.

LINDA KAUFFMANN

Linda Kauffmannis a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo and attended the Art Institud of Chicago for post-graduate work.

Ms. Kauffmann was Director of Arts at the Buffalo YWCA and later taugh at the Knox-Albright Art Gallery.

Linda has lived in Mexico the last 2 years. She has studied oil painting in San Miguel de Allende and Ajijic, Mexico and exhibits her work at Galeria La Manzanilla.

NICOLAS DE JESUS

Nicolas de Jesus was born in the indigenous “NAHUA” community of Alto Balsas in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. As a child, he learned from his father the art of painting on bark paper (amate), depicting the life of prehispanics, “Los Tlacuilos”. He has exhibited in varius cultural centers in Chicago. In 2002 he was invited to show his work in Paris. His work will preserve for the world a knowledge and appreciation of the traditions, beliefs and way of life in his Nahua town.

Steve began his life as an artist in 1994. His primary art training has come from years af study and painting with Wen Ze Chen, a master artist from China. The artist has living in Mexico for the past five years.

MARION LEYLAND

Marion Leyland is a  Canadian born artist who started her painting career in 2002. She studied with Susan Foster and John Anderson, award winning artists in Canada.  Marion's realist paintings reflect her passion for color and detail... Her extensive travels in Europe, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and Mexico have been her inspiration for her vibrant paintings.  She winters in Mexico in Santiago, Mexico.

Angela was raised in Guadalajara. She studied design in the University of Guadalajara and then studied painting in the Art School in Guadalaja, “Hospicio Cabañas” with Oralia Minikata. She attended classes in San Miguel de Allende. She is a fine painter in a realistic style.

Ana Cristina Romo Gameros is originally from Chihuahua, but lived in Guadalajara and took art classes in the local schools. She is basically self-taught, focusing on abstract work with diverse materials which she uses to create artwork that is original and authentic.

GABRIELA DE LA VEGA VEGA

Gabriela de la Vega is a painter and educator from Mexico City. She excels in her warercolor paintings while illustrating imaginary worlds. She is an artist and businesswoman, who is equally sensitive and determined. She portrays these characteristics both in her watercolors and oil paintings.
